8 is a good number.
You should cook fish, but you should not buy fish at a store. You should catch a fish in a stream and ask him to clean, gut, and scale it. That will make him feel manly and important, and that will set a good "mood" for the date. It will also save you money, and you can explain this to him. He will be glad that you are saving money, and that will help set the "mood", as well. Nothing is more romantic than frugality.
Maybe you will be lucky and get more than a kiss on date #8 since he will be a houseguest.
