1st Anniversary

One year ago tonight
I was coming out of a deep
month-long depression

I had a date set up
but I didn't want to go

Patrick came over to babysit
I told him I just wanted to stay
home with him

He kicked me out
of my own house

I drove to a neutral meeting spot
and waited anxiously
for you to arrive

We sat for hours
talking
It was so easy
and you made me
laugh

It had been so long since
I had laughed

A year has gone by

and not one day in that
year
has passed
without me thanking
my lucky stars

that you came into
my life
