My Day
The Good, The Bad, and of course, The Ugly

Jacob had his first dentist appointment today. While there are many wonderfully qualified dentists in my area, I chose to take him to one 35 minutes away because the dentist is my friend from widow group.

We left the house a little late because, well because I'm always late when I take the boys somewhere. So we were late, and there was traffic, and I forgot my cell phone at home so I couldn't call and say I was late. And I knew that I was Rebecca's 1st appt. of the day, so I was screwing up her whole schedule. And it sucked. I felt like a mad woman driving.

We arrived at the office about 15 minutes late, walked in, began apologizing profusely for being late. The receptionist looked at me with a confused look on her face. She consulted her book and informed me that my appt. was not for today, but for tomorrow. Oh.

Thankfully Rebecca is awesome, and took Jacob in anyways. He did great, but she impressed me the most. She let Jacob sit on my lap, and she talked to him in such a relaxed way that he let her do her job. Now I just have to start brushing his teeth regularly!

This afternoon we played in the backyard. I noticed at one point that Brooklyn was running around with something in her mouth. And that something was a mouse! And that mouse was literally falling apart in her mouth.

I began chasing her to get her to stop tearing apart the mouse, and while I did this, J & J "painted" the slide and themselves with mud. Yes, mud.

So I then had two kids covered in mud, and a puppy with a mouse in her mouth, and I was freaking out.

Got the dog to drop mouse, but couldn't stomach moving it, so covered it with bucket. Took boys straight to the tub, cleaned them well, got them in pajamas.

Went to put on jeans for widow group. Jeans had been chewed apart by puppy. UGH!!!!!!

Saw amazing movie with widow group. "Little Miss Sunshine." Go see it. I beg you. I laughed until I cried.

Came home and accidentally overpaid babysitter.

Time for bed I think.

Tomorrow will be less crazy I hope.

Quite a day!

I hope you don't mind me critiquing (spelling?) your entry though. You weren't quite clear enough about how much you were freaking out about the mouse.

For those of you reading, I know this because I was on the phone with her. I had the phone about a foot from my ear however, because she was shreaking at the top of her lungs! Whenever I thought it was safe and she was talking normally, she'd start shreaking again. She wouldn't let me hang up until she had gotten rid of the mouse which, as you read, she wasn't able to do. Fortunately, the bucket idea was satisfactory in her mind.

Hope you don't mind my two cents. :o)

Widowbrain confession: It took me a moment to remember that Brooklyn was a dog, not a child.

Sounds like a day for the record books. Hugs to you, dear.

I used to love going to the dental nurse at school.

Not sure why.

I always wanted to get on of the buzzy bees made from the cotton buds but my damn teeth never fell out. I was about 8 or 9 when I had my first tooth fall out.

Even today I still have all my teeth bar one that the dentist took out because he thought I had another one growing behind it. Idiot.

That's funny Mel about B screaming. Why do girls scream when they see mice? You do realise that you're a lot bigger than them eh? Oh yeah, and spiders, flies, cockroaches, beetles, and everything else girls are scared of. :-)

Boys are way different. We aren't so much scared of them as continually trying to eat them. :-P

What a day B!

I have walked 3 blocks with my Jack Russell WHILE SHE HAD A RAT'S HEAD IN HER MOUTH.

Just the head, not the body. She discovered it while we were walking and I could not persuade her to 'give' (while I held out a plastic bag covered hand), I could not extract it by force (with said plastic bag covered hand). I gave up and walked quickly home. Once we were inside our own backyard I didn't care what she did with the disgusting head - except bring it inside of course!

Ugggh!

Sounds like a busy day. Rebecca was awesome to take Jacob, and I'm so happy he did well. As for Brooklyn, she's going to give you a run for your money! Just thinking of her eating the mouse to shreds makes me sick. I think the bucket idea was good, but don't forget it's there: )

Mel, I'm glad you gave us the full impression of exactly how freaked she was about the mouse. I can only imagine... her face seeing Jacob and Josh covered in mud from the head to toe. What fun for them!

I miss you guys. We're all good, but I feel a little homesick.

Just for the record, Brooklyn didn't kill the mouse, it was already dead. I assume I have my cat to thank for that :O)

Mel's description is accurate unfortunately.

Jenn, please start a blog. We would all love to read it. I miss you tons already. It's strange having you gone.
