Owning a Home

While I'm usually
glad
that
I own a home

and I know
that
I'm lucky
to own
a home

sometimes
it sucks

like when
the furnace
breaks
and
I have no
heat
and the
boys have to
sleep at the sitters
and I have to bundle up
and suck it up
and try not to freeze
and then spend more
money than
I couldpossibly imagine
to replace it

and then one day
later
it rains so hard
that the basement
floods
and I'm at work
and can't do anything
about it

but worry

It's times like
those
that makes me wish
I rented

p.s. thanks for your inquiries about my sister. The inducement was delayed until Monday.

So, on the bright side...you got a break from your kids for the night...although I am really honestly not picturing you bundled up by a warm fire reading a great book totally uninturrupted for hours on end...I really honestly am picturing you bundled up totally miserable and pissed. Have a good weekend now that your house should be warming up and drying out.
Love, G
ps. Bca...go get some reflexology for that induction! I am really not kidding - it puts your labor into fast forward without the side effects of a medical induction (and it can be really relaxing, too!)

oooooh - I can feel the suckiness all the way out here. Wish I could help bail you out. Here - U - it's a virtual bucket. :)

Oh B. Wow, I'm sorry. Hopefully all the bad stuff with the house is out of the way and you'll be loving your place again soon.

I am so sorry your dealing wiht such a mess!! On the bright side, you aren't in Woburn with a boil order on top of it all! ;-) I hope you dry out and can cuddle with T all weekend.

I have the old home syndrome too. And gutters that fill with leaves from the neighbour's trees. And wind that blows water under the flashing and then water sheets down my toilet wall and puddles on the floor that has no drain hole.......

As for commenting on Pentha's blog, try commenting as anonymous - I think Pentha has switched to Beta so for some weird reason it stops you commenting when you're still on normal blogger.

Funny, those are the reasons I would like to own my own home.

I'm somewhat a handy man and like to do things for myself.

If I owned the house I'm renting now I would do things to this place that would make it a beacon of efficiency and self-sufficiency.

Hope you get everything sorted out soon. Of course summer's on its way to you soon so there's time to save up to get heating fixed.

Of course like all things in this world it's not what you know but who you know. Got a friend who can fix your heating for you? In New Zealand that is rewarded with a dozen beer. :-)

I feel your pain. This year was the first year since we've lived in our house that the furnace did not break on the coldest day of the year. Luckily, we bought a house with a fireplace :)
