Grey Hair

I spied my first grey hair
this morning
as I was inspecting
my head

Instead of becoming sad
I smiled at the sight

It was beautiful
shiny
and straight

unlike the corkscrew curls
that cover
the rest of my head

I plucked the
singular
grey
hair

and immediately
felt
regret

I should have worn
that hair
with pride

I earned it
after all

Something tells me
that there will
be more
to come

B-
I am so jealous. I got my first white hair when I was 14!! Now my hair would be mostly salt and pepper if i let it go-- but i cna't quite bring myself to that so instead it's colored like there's no tomorrow. But isn't it amazing that with such curly hair the white comes in straight? it's fascinating to me- and always makes them easy to spot and grab.

Your FIRST grey hair?? I got my first one along with my first year of teaching eleven years ago. Watch out - they multiply like rabbits when you're not looking!

Wisconsin Mommy took the words right out of my mouth...Your first! Lucky you.

Don't pull them out...ten more grow back: ) Thank god for the Salon.

I'd be fully grey if I didn't dye my hair :) Genetics suck for the most part...

Ha! Didn't get my first 'til I was 40. I don't have to see them to know they're grey. I have fine hair, but the grey hairs are much coarser, they don't have the same silky feel. I read somewhere that pulling them out makes them grow back at odd angles. Wear the next one with pride!

I have a few myself...I just started getting them this year..since everyone here is being so forthcoming with age, I am 36. Not enough to dye, and I don't pluck them either.

I don't know if I will dye them..I guess it depends on how quickly they multiply! :)

Just remember this scripture at Proverbs 20:29:

"The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head."

Of course this applies to women so therefore while at one stage you were glorious, today you are simply beautiful. Bask in your beauty.
