Do My Boobs Look that Bad?

My mother called me up tonight
and told me she had the perfect
birthday present for me

She is taking me to get my boobs measured properly
and then will buy me two bras in the correct size

The place she is taking me is by appointment only
and is recommended by Oprah
our outing will be followed by dinner

I have to say I'm excited
because nice bras are expensive
and who can argue with dinner out?

but have my boobs been looking so bad
that this is a present you would think of getting me?

-b

p.s. this is not a dig at my mother. I think this is a great gift. Just hoping it's not due to the fact that my boobs have looked awful for years....

I'm guessing she saw an Oprah repeat about this and knowing you are the incredible shrinking woman, decided you would be needing new bras. Have a good time.

I had that done at a place in the mall (not nearly as special as the place you are going) when I stopped breastfeeding and it was SO WORTH IT. I can't believe the difference! It took 10 pounds off, easily. Have a great time!

moms are always good for helping us out!

Without having the opportunity to check out your boobs I cannot comment.

However, having three sisters I do know that correct fitting bras are something that many ladies do not take into account which could lead to many an issue later in life.

I think your mum is being the good mother she should be and looking out for her little girl. :-)

She probably heard the stat (often repeated by Oprah) that something like 80% of women wear the wrong size bra. Combine that with your weight loss, and yeah, she might have thought you were a candidate! Don't read into it...like you said, good bras are pricey, so just focus on that part of it! Early happy birthday!

I thought your boobs looked amazing last time I saw you. I haven't been able to stop talking about them and have commented about your boobs on several other blogs.

Moms are just weird. And I was just looking at the underwear article in Oprah last night, that stuff is expensive. So free underwear upgrades are nice.

One thing about a proper measuring of the girls. I went and did that last spring and I turned out to be a whole cup size smaller than I thought! Practically training bra material. My solution to that now is to simply not wear them.

Have fun.

this could explain a lot, no?

I'm not sure what you mean, anon. Please explain.

Have fun shopping and lunching. Getting the right fit for the bras should be fun!

I think she's just being sweet and doesn't mean anything by it!

Actually very cool of your mom, b/c you're right--good bras are dang expensive! Cheers, Cathy

Don't be insulted - getting the perfect fit bra is the new fad. I hear there's even a woman who calls herself the Bra Whisperer. Supposedly there is not a woman on the planet who is wearing her correct size bra.

I think your boobs look great! With all the wieight you lost, you probably need a smaller size.

That's funny that a Becca and a Rebecca F. commented. I'm not either of them.
